American Airlines 737-800 returns to Boston after suspected fuel leak

American Airlines flight AA-1239, a Boeing 737‑800 (N812NN), declared an emergency on October 5 after a suspected fuel leak on the right‑hand engine and returned to Boston Logan International Airport.

The aircraft climbed to 30,000 feet before turning back, held position while the crew troubleshooted, and landed safely on runway 22L with 160 people aboard. A replacement 737‑800 (N344PP) completed the Chicago O’Hare leg.
