Queen Suthida completed her first solo flight in a Saab JAS 39C Gripen at Wing 7 in Surat Thani, with King Maha Vajiralongkorn observing the pre‑flight inspections through to the landing.

After landing, the king presented her with a bouquet and the Gripen Order Golden Patch; she now has 1,188.48 total flight hours, including 10.13 hours in the JAS 39D Gripen, while the Royal Thai Air Force continues to operate Gripen C/D aircraft and has a contract signed in August 2025 for three Gripen E and one Gripen F.
