Saudi Arabia launched an operational safety investigation on 30 September into a cockpit attack on flydubai flight FZ1073 while the aircraft was in Saudi airspace on a Dubai‑Tel Aviv route, and the flight was diverted to land in Tabuk.

The probe will run alongside a criminal investigation by the United Arab Emirates, with both the UAE and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board participating because the aircraft is a Boeing registered in the UAE, and the UAE Attorney General said a pilot used an emergency axe to attack the commander and attempted to seize control.
