American Airlines announces new Charlotte lounge and reports flight diversion to JFK

American Airlines said its upcoming Admirals Club lounge in Charlotte will be the largest in its network, while a separate flight to Dallas was diverted to New York after lavatory failures.
Largest Charlotte lounge
American Airlines plans to open an Admirals Club lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport that will cover more than 40,000 square feet, making it the largest in the airline’s global network. Construction is set to begin this year, and existing lounges will stay open during the build. Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said the new space will give customers more room to relax, work and recharge, and Senior Vice President of CLT Operations Ralph Lopez Massas called it the largest in the network.
Flight diverted to JFK
An American Airlines flight from Madrid to Dallas was diverted to John F. Kennedy International Airport after six of the aircraft’s eight lavatories stopped working, leaving only two operational. The FAA confirmed the reduced lavatory availability prompted the diversion. The Boeing 777 was carrying 287 people, and no injuries were reported. Maintenance crews repaired the lavatory systems at JFK before the flight resumed its journey to Dallas‑Fort Worth.
