Iraqi Airways operated a flight from Najaf to Imam‑Chomeini Airport in Tehran, marking the first landing of a foreign airline in Iran since the start of the war, and the flight resumed on Sunday after an exception permit was granted.

The United States granted the state airline an exception permit for pilgrimages between Iran and Najaf, and Iran filed a complaint with the International Civil Aviation Organization at the end of September.
