airBaltic plans workforce cuts and fleet reduction as it restructures

airBaltic will decide the final number of redundancies in the coming weeks after union negotiations that are set to begin on 15 October, with the new organisational structure to be defined by mid‑October.
The airline’s August business plan also calls for shrinking its fleet from 54 to 36 aircraft by the end of the year and reducing capacity, while it has secured 140 million euros of financing under a 350 million‑euro package obtained through Chapter 11; its 2025 results showed a net loss of 44.3 million euros on revenue of 779.3 million euros after carrying about 5.2 million passengers.
