FAA allocates $12 million to 19 drone research projects under UAS BAA program

The Federal Aviation Administration announced a $12 million investment in 19 companies and institutions for drone research and testing as part of its UAS BAA program.

The funded projects will address collision avoidance, satellite communications, artificial intelligence, drone traffic management, aircraft identification and long‑range operations, with General Atomics developing ground systems for aircraft detection and avoidance, Skydweller working on collision‑avoidance technology for large drones, Censys Technologies testing satellite communications for long‑range flights, and Devorto Corporation pursuing a long‑range cargo‑transport drone service.
