In 2025 Germany’s energy tax on gasoline was 65.45 cents per litre and on diesel 47.04 cents per litre, generating €33.3 billion in revenue at fuel stations.

Adding value‑added tax of 27 cents per litre for gasoline and 25.7 cents per litre for diesel raised total tax revenue to €16.1 billion, while overall taxes paid at fuel stations exceeded €40 billion; road tolls brought in €13.4 billion, vehicle tax €9.6 billion, and insurance tax was estimated at €6‑8 billion.
