Flydubai co‑pilot attacks captain on flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv

On 30 September 2026 a flydubai co‑pilot attacked the captain and tried to take control of flight FZ1073 en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, an incident now being investigated by UAE authorities.

Captain Chris Pohl noted that pilots undergo aptitude tests, psychometric assessments, medical examinations, simulator checks, security vetting and extensive paperwork before being trusted to fly, and he argued that such assessments and experienced operational captains should remain central to pilot selection.
