FAA upholds large hangar rent hikes at Denver and Salt Lake City airports

On October 7 the FAA declared an 82 percent increase in T‑hangar rent at Denver jetCenter, rising from $660 to $1,200, to be fair and reasonable and rejected requests for reconsideration, while on September 17 it notified 56 tenants at Salt Lake City International Airport that single‑hangar rates will rise 84 percent in January and 168 percent compared with 2026 rates as of July 1, citing the city’s need to fund maintenance and improvements.
AOPA challenged the Salt Lake City rate changes, sending a detailed letter on September 25 questioning the lack of public information on the city’s market analysis and maintenance costs, and its Northwest Mountain Regional Manager was directed to request records under the state’s Government Records Access and Management Act; AOPA’s general counsel also argued that the FAA’s evidence requirements make it unlikely any airport user could substantiate a rates and charges complaint.
