Air India, Air India Express and Akasa Air raise fuel surcharges from Oct 9, 2026

Air India and Air India Express announced revised fuel surcharges for new bookings effective 9 October 2026, with the changes taking effect at 11 am IST for Air India and at 12 am IST for Air India Express, while Akasa Air reinstated its domestic surcharge on the same date.

The domestic surcharge for Air India and Air India Express can be up to Rs 1,200, whereas Akasa Air’s domestic levy ranges from Rs 375 to Rs 1,150. Internationally, Air India and Air India Express will charge up to $215 on routes to North America, $210 to Australia, $135 to Europe including the UK and $55 to West Asia and the Middle East, while Akasa Air will apply a flat Rs 2,500 surcharge on flights to Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Vietnam.
