Turkish Airlines hosts IATA World Safety and Operations Conference in Istanbul

Turkish Airlines opened the IATA World Safety and Operations Conference (WSOC) on 6 October in Istanbul.

The conference theme was “Performance Through People”, with Turkish Airlines CEO Ahmet Olmuştur emphasizing safety as central to the airline and noting that technology’s value is realized through the knowledge, experience and judgment of people, while IATA senior vice‑president Nick Careen highlighted that people are the basis of aviation safety and that skills, judgment and leadership are key despite technological advances.
