A British Airways Boeing 777-200ER experienced a technical issue while flying over Ireland on 5 October and transmitted a 7700 emergency code, descending from 37,000 feet to 9,000 feet before the crew elected to return to London instead of continuing across the Atlantic.

The aircraft circled the Bristol Channel and landed safely at London Heathrow with no injuries reported, while the cause of the technical problem remains under investigation.
