ACI Europe presented the Sustainability Strategy for Airports 2.0, covering the period 2026‑2030 and defining seven focus areas: decarbonisation, climate adaptation, local environmental quality, circular economy, biodiversity, sustainable mobility, and people and communities.

The strategy notes that 328 European airports have public roadmaps to net‑zero emissions, representing about 83% of the region’s passenger traffic, and that 297 airports are certified under the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme; more than a hundred airports have set targets to reach net‑zero emissions by 2030 or earlier. It also links sustainability to investment, urging airports to quantify climate exposure in CAPEX and to measure the share of CAPEX that includes resilience criteria, and proposes green financing tools such as green bonds or resilience‑linked financing.

The strategy warns that climate risks could raise insurance premiums, affect asset values and limit access to capital, while ESG metrics may influence investors and lenders.
