Biman Bangladesh Airlines orders ten Airbus jets

Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed a firm order for four A350‑900s and six A321neos, to be delivered from 2030, with the aircraft intended for long‑haul and regional routes from its Dhaka hub.
Order details
Biman Bangladesh Airlines placed a firm order for ten Airbus aircraft, comprising four A350‑900 widebody jets and six A321neo single‑aisle jets.
The airline will operate the aircraft from its primary hub in Dhaka and plans to serve North America, Europe and the Middle East.
Signing ceremony
The agreement was signed on 7 October 2026 at a ceremony in Dhaka by Biman Chairman Rumee A. Hossain and Airbus India and South Asia President Jürgen Westermeier.
Delivery schedule
Aircraft deliveries are expected to begin in 2030. The agreement brings Biman’s planned purchases from Airbus and Boeing to a total of 35 aircraft, with Boeing deliveries scheduled for 2031‑2035.
Strategic intent
Biman Managing Director and CEO Kaizer Sohel Ahmed said the A350‑900s would serve long‑haul routes and the A321neos would give the airline the range and flexibility to open new regional markets.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat said the purchases would help Biman expand its share of the country’s air travel market, which he put at about 20 %.
The latest‑generation aircraft offer a range of 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometres) and are marketed with figures of 200 million and 15 million, according to the airline’s statements.
