Ryanair will move the deadline for checking in and dropping bags from 40 to 60 minutes before flight, with the change effective 10 November. The airline says the shift benefits customers who check bags and will be supported by self‑service kiosks at most airports.

New check‑in deadline

From 10 November passengers will have to check in and drop bags at least 60 minutes before departure, replacing the current 40‑minute deadline. Chief marketing officer Dara Brady said the change gives the 20 percent of customers who check a bag more time to clear security. Eighty percent of customers who travel without checked baggage will not be affected by the 20‑minute extension.

Self‑service kiosks rollout

Ryanair plans to have self‑service bag‑drop kiosks at more than 95 percent of its airports by October. The kiosks are integrated with the Ryanair app and allow passengers to check in bags and print tags.
