The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered MakeMyTrip to pay Rs 30,000 in compensation and Rs 5,000 in litigation costs, directing compliance within 30 days of the September 30 judgment and imposing 6% simple interest if payment is delayed.

The ruling stems from a complaint filed on January 18, 2025 by Abhay Garg, who said he and two friends booked three tickets from New Delhi to Varanasi on November 13, 2024, paying Rs 4,995, including Rs 1,500 for confirmed tickets and Rs 800 for a trip guarantee, only to be told at boarding that the tickets were cancelled and forced to travel standing near the train’s toilet.
