On 5 October a CASA‑C295 of Air Squadron 918 moved 15,401 soldier remains from Can Tho International Airport to Gia Lam Military Airport for DNA testing, marking the third and largest such flight organized by the Air Defense and Air Force Command.

Flight details

The transport was carried out by the Flight Crew CASA‑C295 of Air Squadron 918 of the Air Defense and Air Force Command. It departed Can Tho International Airport and landed at Gia Lam Military Airport on 5 October.

Cargo handling

The remains were packed in 161 specialized containers (referred to as crates in one report) and were covered with the national flag during the flight.

Reception and ceremony

Upon arrival, the remains were received by the Military Forensic Institute for DNA testing. A memorial ceremony was held at Gia Lam Airport, attended by General Trần Ngọc Quyến, General Huỳnh Văn Ngon and other military leaders.
