Idemia Public Security announced plans to roll out PaXpress SmartLane biometric corridors across Asia‑Pacific airports, while Indonesian officials discuss avtur pricing and a haze event affected flights at Palembang airport on 3 October 2026.

Biometric corridor rollout

Idemia Public Security is deploying PaXpress SmartLane biometric corridors across Asia‑Pacific airports over the next half‑year to a year. The system captures and matches face biometrics of multiple people simultaneously and on the move, and travellers can use a mobile application with PaXpress Capture SDK for ID authentication, face capture with PAD and identity verification. Idemia PS is currently running trials of PaXpress SmartLane ahead of the planned rollout, and Tim Ferris, Idemia PS Global Head of Borders & Travel, said infrastructure investment depends on implementation scope.

Amadeus is the likely buyer of Idemia PS at a planned price of 1.2 billion euros (≈US$1.4 billion).

Avtur price concerns in Indonesia

Syarif, a legislator from the NasDem party and member of DPR RI Commission XII, said avtur price is high mainly due to taxes, not processing costs, and urged the Ministry of Finance to evaluate avtur price components, including taxes, to keep flight costs competitive. He warned that rising ticket prices could shift passengers to road transport, affecting airport infrastructure utilization.

Joko Pranoto, Director of Planning and Business Growth at Pertamina Patra Niaga, said the government is keeping non‑subsidised fuel and avtur prices stable for October. Non‑subsidised fuel prices, including avtur, have been below Rp20 thousand per liter from January 2025 to early 2026.
