Transavia launches cost-cutting program as KLM receives first A350 and bans powerbanks

Transavia announced a large-scale cost‑cutting program aimed at increasing profit. KLM received its first Airbus A350 at Schiphol Airport, naming it “Die Nachtwache” and noting its 331 seats, 25% lower fuel consumption and 40% lower noise compared with previous generation aircraft.

First A350 arrival
KLM has received its first Airbus A350 at Schiphol Airport. Marjan Rintel, President and CEO of KLM, said the A350 arrival is a milestone for KLM and the Netherlands. The aircraft will be named “Die Nachtwache” after a Rembrandt painting and has 331 seats: 271 Economy, 26 Premium Comfort and 34 World Business. The A350 consumes about 25% less fuel and its noise level is about 40% lower than previous generation aircraft.

KLM will ban powerbanks on board from 2026. Transavia will not ban powerbanks on board from 2026.
