Guarulhos Airport rename to honor Lito Sousa gains 94% support in public poll

A proposal to rename Guarulhos International Airport as "Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo/Guarulhos – Lito Sousa" was presented to the Chamber of Deputies on 2 October as Project Law 5515/2026, following the death of Lito Sousa on 1 October at age 59.

A public poll opened on 2 October showed 94% approval, with 31 of 33 participants voting "concordo totalmente" and 2 voting "discordo totalmente"; the poll was still ongoing as of 9 October.
