Flydubai co‑pilot attempted to crash plane into Ben Gurion terminal, diverted

On 30 September a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was hijacked when co‑pilot Hamam al‑Hammami attacked the captain with a knife and tried to steer the aircraft into the Ben Gurion airport terminal; the captain opened the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to subdue the attacker, and the second pilot diverted the plane to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely and the co‑pilot was arrested by Saudi authorities.
UAE authorities described the incident as an attempted terrorist attack and the UAE prosecutor said the investigation is ongoing to determine whether the suspect acted alone or had accomplices, noting that he had flown to Tel Aviv twice beforehand to study the route and airport.
