JR East Japan announced that personal information of its eki‑net and Otona no Hiyori members may have been leaked after an unauthorized access.

The company said about 1.67 million eki‑net members and 390 000 Otona no Hiyori members could have had their email addresses exposed, while it denies that names, addresses or phone numbers were compromised; it will inform affected users individually by email when ready, is investigating the cause, and cannot deliver member‑only emails to some users because of the breach.
