Ocean container spot rates from Asia to US and Europe dip again this week

The Shanghai‑Los Angeles spot rate fell 3% to $7,624 per 40‑ft container and the Shanghai‑New York rate slipped 2% to $10,220 per 40‑ft, while Far East‑North Europe and Far East‑Mediterranean rates dropped to $3,645 and $4,007 respectively, all on a week‑on‑week basis.

Freight Right said the market was static over the past week because of the holiday in China, and Xeneta’s chief analyst noted that European shippers are negotiating long‑term contracts as short‑term rates continue to fall, with Asia‑Europe spot rates marking a 13th consecutive week of decline.
