Alaska Airlines changes fare‑adjustment policy, ending Wallet credits for lower fares

Effective October 7, Alaska Airlines stopped offering credits for fare adjustments and now requires passengers to cancel and rebook to obtain a lower fare, and it no longer permits Alaska Wallet funds for Companion Fare reservations.

The airline says canceling a non‑refundable ticket moves the airfare and seat fee into the Wallet but blocks use of those funds for main‑cabin upgrades, while canceling a refundable ticket lets the credit be applied to a cheaper replacement with any remainder kept for another trip; an unexpired Companion Fare code is returned with its original expiration date, whereas an expired code is forfeited, and seats, upgrades and lower fares may not be available when rebuilding the reservation, with some accounts still able to use Wallet funds for Companion Fare tickets and others not.
