Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has issued a tender to supply and install a Sparrow Net mesh and related equipment at Indira Gandhi International Airport to reduce the risk of bird strikes.

The airport recorded 695 bird‑strike incidents from 2020 to June 2025, with about 70 % occurring below 500 feet during take‑off and landing, and a previous bird‑scare plan using firecrackers had been considered; the Airports Authority of India also prohibits littering, meat waste and feeding birds around the airport, though such practices continue near certain areas.
