Air India will start operating selected Sydney–Delhi flights with Boeing 777‑300ER aircraft on 5 December 2026, and will move all services on the route to the 777 from 1 January 2027, increasing the frequency from seven to eleven weekly flights.

The transferred 777s, previously used by Etihad Airways, retain the Gulf carrier’s cabin layout, offering eight private first‑class suites and a business‑class cabin of 40 flat‑bed seats in a 1‑2‑1 configuration, up from 18 seats on the airline’s 787‑8; Air India’s refurbished 787s will feature 30 doored business‑class suites in a 1‑2‑1 layout and a new premium‑economy cabin.

Why it matters

Air India expects the new product to raise its corporate market share on the Sydney route from about 10% to nearly 25%.
