A strike organised by the union ABVV is set for Friday 9 October, with a national demonstration planned, and about 140 flights are expected to be cancelled at Brussels Airport.

The ground handling firm Alyzia, which serves roughly 20 airlines including Brussels Airlines, is affected, leading Brussels Airlines to anticipate only about half of its flights will operate, while Aviapartner, handling Ryanair and TUI Fly, is not impacted; passengers on affected flights will be contacted directly by airlines for rebooking or refunds.

Additional strikes and demonstrations are scheduled for 12 October, which could potentially cripple public service in Belgium.
