Birmingham Airport announced a £2 billion investment programme over 15 years aimed at raising annual passenger traffic to 30 million.

The plan, which focuses on maximising use of the existing runway, includes terminal expansions, additional aircraft stands, baggage system upgrades, improved ground access and a visible HS2 connection near the Arden Cross development, and does not propose a second runway. An eight‑week public consultation runs from 16 October to 4 December 2026, with the final master‑plan document expected in early 2027, and the scheme is projected to create more than 50 000 jobs, including 3 800 at the airport.
