DB, Trenitalia and ÖBB to launch direct Munich‑Milan‑Rome service in summer 2027

Deutsche Bahn, Trenitalia (FS Group) and ÖBB will begin operating a direct train linking Munich, Milan and Rome from the summer of 2027, with each of the Munich–Milan and Munich–Rome routes scheduled for two round‑trips per day.

A joint venture of Hitachi Rail and Alstom has modified nine eight‑car trainsets, each 200 m long and offering 462 seats across Standard/Premium, Business and Executive classes, with free Wi‑Fi, an entertainment portal and a bistro on board; Business‑class passengers receive a welcome service. In December 2028 the Munich–Milan service will be extended to Naples and the Munich–Rome service to Berlin.
