ACI Europe announced a new sustainability strategy called Sustainability Strategy 2.0 for airports, expanding the agenda beyond carbon emissions to cover biodiversity, resource use, climate change adaptation, environmental resilience, resource efficiency and social impacts, and also incorporating airport surroundings and accessibility.

The initiative notes that 328 European airports have a net‑zero emissions plan, representing about 83% of total passenger traffic in Europe, while 297 airports are certified under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program.
