Kabalega International Airport in Hoima received its first passenger aircraft on September 27, with Libya’s national football team players among the first passengers and Uganda’s national team and football officials also arriving by air.

Construction of the airport began in 2018; it features a 3.5‑kilometre runway capable of handling large cargo aircraft, the project cost about $309 million, and the first phase was 99.9 percent complete by September 2026.
