ADAC Luftrettung will expand its rescue operations in Saxony beginning in January 2027, after the Landesdirektion Sachsen renewed licences for its Leipzig and Zwickau stations in May 2026, with contracts running through 2045.

The Zwickau‑based helicopter Christoph 46 is being fitted with a rescue winch, enabling missions in difficult terrain such as the Erzgebirge and Vogtland and extending operations beyond sunset, while crew members receive wind‑training and night‑vision preparation; larger Airbus H145 helicopters will also be deployed at Zwickau and Leipzig stations.
