Thai Airways and the Office of the Eastern Economic Corridor have signed a 50‑year lease for a future maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centre at U‑Tapao International Airport, covering 33.6 hectares and involving an investment of about 10 billion baht (265 million euros).

Construction is slated to start in 2027 with the centre expected to open in 2030; it will provide heavy maintenance and repainting services, employ digital tools and advanced inspection techniques, and include a training centre for technical staff, capable of servicing Airbus and Boeing aircraft, primarily for Thai Airways but with capacity offered to other airlines.
