Retired instructor launches free FlightMedReady tool for aviation medical examiners

Dr. Susan Buriak retired after roughly 15 years teaching FAA medical certification rules and created FlightMedReady, a free online tool for aviation medical examiners that uses the FAA Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners and federal regulations.

The tool lets an AME select a certificate class, pilot age and exam type to generate a checklist that can be exported as a PDF with explanatory notes and links to FAA guidance; it does not make decisions and is purely informational, being independently developed and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the FAA, and its focus was shifted to AMEs to avoid collecting pilot personal data under Washington state’s My Health My Data Act.
