Thales will replace the RSM 970 radar with an RSM NG system on the Faroe Islands, with the contract awarded by DALO, the procurement arm of the Danish Defence Ministry, and the new radar to be installed at Sornfelli.

The secondary radar will gather transponder and ADS‑B data for both military and civil air traffic control, will be linked to the AVIANS control centre, and is scheduled for installation and commissioning within six months without interrupting air traffic control operations.
