United suspends pilot again after social media praise of Oct. 7 attacks

United Airlines suspended Captain Ibrahim R Mossallam after his social media posts praising the October 7, 2023 attacks in Israel, and has removed him from service pending an ongoing review.

The airline had previously removed Mossallam from service in November 2023, then quietly allowed him to fly again after a paid suspension, and pilots have expressed loss of trust by choosing cockpit jumpseats over first‑class seats when deadheading on his flights; United also resumed Newark‑to‑Tel Aviv flights in February 2024.
