Aviation fuel prices closed August up 8.3% from July and 79.2% compared with August 2025, according to IATA, while Cirium analysis found no major hub ran out of fuel since the Strait of Hormuz closure in late February.

Small terminals were the first to experience fuel shortages, affecting airports such as Brindisi, Pescara, Yangon and Tahiti, whereas larger hubs like Heathrow, Frankfurt and Changi remained supplied.
