United to equip over 1,000 mainline aircraft with Starlink by May 2027

United Airlines plans to install Starlink on more than 1,000 mainline aircraft by May 2027, installing the system on over 20 aircraft each week at 17 maintenance stations, and had equipped more than 450 aircraft by July 2026.

The airline expects to have nearly 1,000 aircraft fitted by the end of 2026, including roughly 60 wide‑body jets, and reports that flights with Starlink generate Wi‑Fi satisfaction scores more than twice as high as other systems.

Why it matters

Higher Wi‑Fi satisfaction scores on Starlink‑equipped flights could improve United's passenger experience and competitive positioning.
