Hydrogen fuel‑cell truck makes first delivery in Malpensa Cargo City

A fuel‑cell truck operated by Gruber Logistics delivered cargo to handlers in Malpensa Airport’s Cargo City as part of a test integrated into daily terminal operations.
Test delivery
The hydrogen‑powered truck entered the Pass4Core secure parking area of Cargo City and moved loads following digital procedures and Smart City flows used for shipments and supplies. It delivered goods to handlers BCUBE AIR CARGO and ALHA, according to laprovinciadivarese.it and ilgiornale.it, while milanotoday.it reports delivery to Bcube Air Cargo and Alpha.
Collaboration and projects
The operation was supported by SEA Aeroporti di Milano and Edison. Gruber Logistics and Scania are involved in the European ZEFES project that tests heavy hydrogen vehicles for long‑haul transport. SEA also participates in the OLGA Horizon 2020 project for clean energy and hydrogen solutions in airports, with Edison developing a green hydrogen production project near the Truck SafePark at Malpensa.
Future hub plans
Cargo City plans to create a hub for green hydrogen production and distribution, with the project to be located within the terminal near the Truck SafePark.
What's still unclear
Sources differ on the second handler’s name, reporting ALHA (laprovinciadivarese.it and ilgiornale.it) versus Alpha (milanotoday.it).
