Greece has prepared and sent a Letter of Intent to the United States for a weapons package covering its F‑35 and F‑16 Viper aircraft, including several air‑to‑air missiles and a cruise missile.

The package seeks the AIM‑260 Joint Advanced Tactical Missile, estimated by analysts to have a range of 200–240+ km and up to 300 km in ideal conditions, the AIM‑120D AMRAAM with a range around or above 160 km, the AIM‑9X Sidewinder (Block II/II+) with a 35 km range, the AGM‑158B JASSM‑ER cruise missile with a 1,000 km range, and small‑size SDB II glide bombs capable of striking stationary targets at 110 km and moving targets at 70 km; the naval deterrent also includes the AGM‑84 Harpoon air‑launched version with a range beyond 120 km.
