The aircraft, an NAF ATR‑42 with tail number NAF 931, was on a routine mission from Benin City to Lagos when it crashed in southwestern Ondo state. Air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane at 9.13 am on Monday, and the wreckage was located near the coastal town of Igbokoda. The crash killed 25 passengers and seven crew members, a total of 32 people.

President Bola Tinubu confirmed there were no survivors and directed the Nigerian Air Force to commence a thorough investigation.
