Charlotte Douglas International Airport has proposed the CLT Beyond capital improvement program under a new Airline Use and Lease Agreement with American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines, and airport officials will present the agreement to the Charlotte City Council on Oct. 12 with a council vote to follow.

The CLT Beyond plan calls for expansion of Concourse C, a new passenger tunnel, renovations to international arrivals and airfield infrastructure improvements, building on the $4 billion Destination CLT program that included the $241 million Concourse A Phase II expansion completed in September 2024 adding ten gates; the airport is also constructing a fourth parallel runway scheduled to open in 2027, after serving 53.6 million passengers and more than 574,000 aircraft operations in 2025, with American Airlines accounting for roughly 90% of passenger traffic.
