The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Board of Commissioners authorized $110 million for two expansion projects at Terminal A of Newark Liberty International Airport.

The funding includes $100 million for a southern expansion that will add two gates and 25,000 sq ft of space, with construction slated to start in 2027 and finish in 2029, and $10 million for planning a northern expansion that will add six gates, with planning beginning in 2027 and a phased opening expected between 2030 and 2032. Terminal A, which opened in 2023 and was designed for about 13 million passengers annually, served roughly 18 million passengers in 2024, nearly 40 % more than projected.
