A Sindbard Air Embraer EMB‑120 Brasilia (registration 5H‑HLL) hit a zebra on take‑off from Seronera airstrip in the Serengeti and was forced to divert to Kilimanjaro International Airport, where the crew could not lower the main landing gear and performed a belly landing on runway 9.

All 26 passengers and four crew members escaped without injury, the zebra was killed, and the aircraft suffered substantial damage; the airport was closed for about five hours following the incident.
