YPF's planned biorefinery in Argentina, backed by an investment exceeding US$400 million, will have an estimated capacity of 170,000 metric tonnes per year of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and HVO and is scheduled for full operations in 2029. TotalEnergies will acquire most of the volume under a firm long‑term commitment and will hold a preferential right over the remaining volumes.

TotalEnergies also aims to produce more than 500,000 metric tonnes per year of SAF from 2028 at its European refineries and has supply agreements with Air France‑KLM for up to 1.5 million tonnes over ten years and with Volotea.
