On 7 October Houthi forces launched a missile that landed near the runway at Aden International Airport, causing the scheduled flight from Cairo to be cancelled and diverted to Jeddah.

The Saudi‑led coalition intercepted a ballistic missile north of Riyadh on the same day, and Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group also targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with drones.

Flights to and from King Khalid International Airport were briefly disrupted.

Why it matters

The brief disruption of flights at King Khalid International Airport indicates an immediate impact on airline operations and passenger itineraries.
