Australian authorities have joined the global investigation into the attempted hijacking of flydubai flight FZ103, with the Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team leading the probe.

The Boeing 737 Max 8 was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 174 passengers and six crew when it descended rapidly from 34,000 feet to 15,000 feet; the captain was stabbed by the first officer with a crash axe, made distress calls and opened the cockpit door despite his injuries, and at least two Australians were on board.
