Passenger shakes Lufthansa Boeing 787 door on Bogotá‑Frankfurt flight

A 33‑year‑old passenger repeatedly rattled the door of Lufthansa flight LH543 from Bogotá to Frankfurt, was restrained by crew and two passengers, and was taken into custody after landing.

Incident on board

During the flight, the passenger ignored crew instructions and repeatedly shook the aircraft door. Cabin crew and two other passengers physically restrained him, preventing further attempts to open the door.

The aircraft, a Boeing 787, continued to its scheduled destination and landed in Frankfurt.

After landing

Police arrested the passenger at Frankfurt Airport and transferred him to a psychiatric hospital.

A criminal proceeding for dangerous interference with air traffic (or endangering air traffic) has been opened against him.
