Oman's Civil Aviation Authority has entered a 20‑year concession agreement with GMF AeroAsia to operate and manage aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities at Muscat International Airport.

Agreement signing

The concession agreement was signed on 5 October, on the sidelines of the Civil Aviation Investment Forum. Naif bin Ali al Abri, President of the Civil Aviation Authority, signed on behalf of the CAA, and Andy Fahrurrozi, CEO of GMF AeroAsia, signed for the company.

Parties involved

GMF AeroAsia, a subsidiary of the Garuda Indonesia Group and Indonesia's largest MRO service provider, will operate the facilities. Oman Air is identified as a key partner, with arrangements for collaboration with the national carrier.

Facility scope

The MRO hub will accommodate both narrow‑body and wide‑body aircraft and will provide heavy maintenance and periodic inspection services for national, regional and international airline fleets. It also aims to facilitate transfer of knowledge and advanced technologies in airframe, engine and avionics maintenance.
